It's been a few years since the Clarks Summit Fire Company moved into our location on Bedford Street. Along with serving our community with the care and protection we've always given, the fire company has been working hard to keep our equipment current with state and federal regulations. Updating and refurbishing this equipment is expensive. We estimate it costs us over $20,000 each year to do so.

Since moving to Bedford Street, the fire company replaced two aging vehicles with newer ones. The 1974 ladder truck was replaced with a 1991 ladder truck that cost the fire company $155,000. The 1985 rescue truck was replaced with a 2002 rescue truck for $239,000. To purchase these vehicles new would have cost the fire company more than a million dollars.

The Clarks Summit Fire Company is a 100% volunteer company. Our members perform many functions in service to the Fire Company and community, be it by responding to a fire or ambulance call, maintaining our equipment, or helping with administrative duties.

Some interesting facts about the Clarks Summit Fire Company:

• Our fire company proudly serves Clarks Summit Borough, Clarks Green Borough, Glenburn Township, Abington Township and parts of South Abington Township.
• We respond to more than 350 fire calls and 1,200 ambulance calls every year.
• Fire company membership is open to those ages 14 and older. Contributory and Auxiliary memberships are also available.
• Every year in October during National Fire Prevention Week the Clarks Summit Fire Company visits pre-schools and elementary schools in our area to educate the students on fire safety.
• Our Sunday Breakfast buffet is held on the third Sunday of every month from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm.
• The banquet hall holds up to 120 people and is available for rent.
